MUNICIPAL VEHICLES

Municipalities have to carry out many tasks, such as Maintenance of streets, Disposal of garbage, Sewer cleaning, Sweeping, Waste cleaning, Winter service, Fire fighting and more.

Many operations undertaken by municipalities take place in bad weather conditions when machine operators are exposed to rain, fog and dust where visibility is poor. In winter they are exposed to ice and snow in the streets which creates reflections leading to glare. Snow covered ground creates intense glare with the average reflection of light over the field of view being very high, in the range of 70 to 90 %. Ideally, lighting that has a lower colour temperature as well as a low illumination level is required to reduce the reflections from the snow.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to switch the colour temperature according to the seasons? Warmer light combined with less luminance when there is snow on the ground and colder light providing higher luminance levels when there is no snow on the ground.

Switching colour temperatures can be accomplished with the TYRI INTELLilight. This system allows you to adjust the colour temperature range from 2700 K (halogen) to 6500 K (cold white). Additionally, you can dim any individual lamp regardless of the light next to it, from 0% to 100 % and add a light luminance sensor that reacts to glare and dim lights automatically. This is a very effective solution for machines with multiple operators as you can personalize your settings. INTELLilight is highly suitable for snow removal and de-icing machines.

Snow Blowers

Fresia snow blowers are used for snow clearing operations on highways, mountain roads, alpine passes and airports. In this example, the machine’s roof bar is equipped with TYRI LED head light – HL Compact and TYRI 1010 LED work light with a warm light temperature; to avoid glare from snow. Installed on the blade and upper cannon is the TYRI VL6 work light, to show the flow of the snow at the night.

AIRPORT RUNWAY DE-ICER

In winter, airport runways require frequent de-icing to ensure planes can take off and land safely. These Fresia de-icing machines travel the length of the concourse spraying special chemicals required to melt any ice build up. To enable better vision – the TYRI LED BlueBeam is used to highlight all nozzles on the sprayer arm.

Snow Sweeper

Fresia snow sweepers have to clear the runway from snow before take-off and landing approaches can take place. To improve the machine operator’s visibility TYRI LED 1010 were chosen.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL IMPLEMENT CARRIERS

No matter if spring, summer, autumn or winter, high demands on sweeping, waste management and winter service in the public sector must be met. Dust from streets and snow make visibility hard. TYRI supplies suitable LED work lights to ensure perfect illumination of the streets and the embankment.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

This tram was modernized and the old lights were replaced by TYRI’s LED headlight with low and high beam, position light, DRL and external indicator.

Sweepers

This sweeper from Autobren used on runways and aircraft parking areas is equipped with a light bar where TYRI D10 is incorporated.

CLEANING ROBOT

This cleaning robot from Adlatus, used in shops and galleries, is equipped with TYRI’s warning light D8S BluePoint in order to make customers aware of an approaching vehicle.

INTELLilight®

INTELLilight® is a perfect solution for snow sweepers. With the ability to change colour temperature from 2700 K up to 6500 K and automatic dimming function is ideally suited also for fire fighting vehicles to solve lighting problems in difficult conditions such as snow, dust, smoke and more.

THE BIG GUIDE

THE IMPORTANCE OF TESTING & APPROVALS

Testing and Approvals for Municipal Vehicles

EMC EN55025 / CISPR 25

It is of vital importance, especially on emergency or military vehicles, that lighting does not affect control systems, cameras, on-board computers and other radio sensitive equipment. This is why TYRI lights are scrutinised to ensure they do not interfere with EMC functionality.

IP 69K

IP 69K ratings offers complete peace of mind that the work light you are installing has undergone rigorous tests to ensure it is both durable and conforms to the highest standards on the scale of protection against water, moisture and dust ingress.

Vibration testing

TYRI lights undergo extensive vibration testing, for up to 8 hours on all axes, above 10 Grms at a frequency range from 5 – 2000 Hz. This simulates the forces applied to the lights once mounted on off highway machines.

Salt spray testing

TYRI lights undergo rigorous salt spray testing to ensure they are approved to ASTMB117 standards. This ensures that even in corrosive environments, TYRI lights will continue to perform.

Shock testing

As well as vibration testing, TYRI lights undergo shock testing to a force of 50G. This ensures that TYRI lights will withstand punishment from your work environment.

Environmental testing

TYRI lights tested in hot and cold temperatures, as well as humidity, for a minimum of 50 days. They are tested in conditions up to -40C° to +85C° and up to 90% humidity.

Polarity / Overheating / Overvoltage Protection

TYRI lights have built in temperature sensing circuits which reduce the output to regulate the temperature of the light. This prevent damage to the LED’s that can result in premature failure. TYRI LED lights are also reverse polarity protected in the event of incorrect installation. Should the wires become crossed during connection, TYRI lights will not turn on until the wires have been connected in the correct configuration, protecting the LEDs and associated circuitry.
