Rebecka drives a timber truck – “feels like it’s always dark in the forest”

Rebecka Jansson has been driving trucks for the past ten years. She has always had a passion for trucks, though she initially worked in retail and later at the postal service. But her fascination with heavy machinery eventually took over, and for the past two years, she’s been behind the wheel of a timber truck for Ottossons Åkeri.

“Driving a timber truck is much more fun than a regular truck. There’s more going on, more challenges, and you handle the job on your own. Most days involve picking up timber in the forest and delivering it to a sawmill, but no trip is ever the same. The small forest roads really test you. Sometimes you have to reverse or turn around on narrow paths. And when you’re out there in the forest, it honestly feels like it’s always dark,” says Rebecka.

For a while now, Rebecka’s timber truck has been equipped with lighting from TYRI – and hopefully, it’s not quite as dark in the forest anymore.

“I’m really happy with the lighting now. It’s especially important to have good lighting in the back. Reversing is the tricky part, and you need strong lights to safely handle the timber truck. Work lights are important too – you need to be able to rely on them. You don’t want them breaking when you’re deep in the woods,” says Rebecka.

Ottossons Åkeri has around ten trucks, and Rebecka is one of the drivers employed at the haulage company. Everyone there shares a strong interest in trucks and timber transport – though Rebecka has other passions as well.

“Of course I love big trucks, but I also have two horses – a Swedish warmblood and a crossbreed – and I need to make time for them. On top of that, I’m into American cars and would love to buy myself a vintage Buick someday,” Rebecka concludes.
